Screw sets and cage bars: purpose
Cage bars are elements of the screw press cage that directly contact the material being pressed. This is one of the most heavily loaded components of a press: abrasive contact with seed and cake gradually wears the working surface, and sooner or later the part has to be replaced. D.ENERGY performs major upgrades and precision manufacturing of spare parts for all types of screw presses.
D.ENERGY cage bars
- A 4–5 mm hardfaced working edge gives high wear resistance and stable geometry.
- A constant drainage gap maintains optimal pressure in the press chamber.
- Thinner bars increase the drainage area by up to 20 %.
- Drainage washers remove dead zones and improve oil outflow.
- High manufacturing accuracy ensures quick assembly and correct fit.
D.ENERGY screw sets
Developed using mathematical modelling for the maximum degree of pressing: multi-stage compression of the product, optimally selected compression washers and integrated loosening elements for more effective material preparation. This provides stable pressure, higher oil yield and more efficient press operation. Working surfaces of the parts are hardfaced with wear-resistant material on automated equipment.
Why hardfacing pays off
A standard bar is made of a single steel: when the working surface wears, the whole bar has to be replaced. On D.ENERGY bars the wear-resistant hardfacing is applied exactly where wear happens, while the body stays in a base metal that carries load well.
- Up to 3 times longer service life of the working surface compared with standard bars, depending on raw material and press operating mode.
- Fewer stops for replacement and fewer teardowns of the press cage.
- Lower total cost of ownership: 2–3 times fewer sets are used over the same period.

What to specify when ordering
- press model and manufacturer, serial number;
- the part needed: cage bar, screw shaft, compression washers, loosening elements;
- raw material and moisture;
- a drawing or a worn part sample, and a photo of the assembly.
A brochure with the description is in the Resources section. The presses these parts are for are on the press equipment page.
Frequently asked questions
Which presses do your parts fit?
We make spare parts for all types of screw presses; to select, send the press model, a drawing or a sample.
How long does a hardfaced bar last?
Up to 3 times longer than a standard one, according to the manufacturer; the actual result depends on the raw material and the press operating mode.
