Coolers (crispers)

Coolers (crispers) of the CC series are industrial coolers-dryers for cake, designed for its preparation after mechanical pressing before further transportation or extraction. Cooling and drying are carried out according to the countercurrent principle, when the air flow passes against the movement of the product, ensuring effective heat and moisture exchange. The design of the equipment minimizes the destruction of the cake and the formation of a fine fraction, which helps to preserve its structure and quality. The product is discharged by a screw mechanism with the ability to adjust the performance, and the level control system ensures stable operation. To clean the aspiration air, the cooler is equipped with a dust collection system based on a cyclone and a fan. The equipment is made of stainless steel and adapted to the requirements of a specific technological line, ensuring reliable, safe and efficient operation.

Our Equipment

Cake coolers (crispers): purpose

The CC series cooler-dryer (crisper) is an industrial machine that prepares press cake after mechanical pressing, before further transport or extraction. It cools and dries the product, providing efficient heat and moisture exchange.

How the cooler works

  • Counter-current flow. Cooling and drying follow the counter-current principle: the air flow passes against the movement of the product.
  • Structure preserved. The design minimises breakage of the cake and generation of fines, keeping its quality.
  • Discharge. A screw mechanism with adjustable capacity.
  • Control. A level control system provides a stable operating regime.
  • Air cleaning. A dust collection system based on a cyclone and a fan cleans the aspiration air.
  • Material. The equipment is made of stainless steel.

How to choose a cooler

  • Capacity and regime: matched to the pressing section and the next step (transport or extraction).
  • Product requirements: minimum fines and preserved cake structure.
  • Aspiration: a cyclone and a fan sized for your conditions.
  • Line layout: the equipment is adapted to the requirements of the specific process line.

The cooler in the process line

The crisper stands after the screw presses and before the extractor or cake transport. Together with roasters it forms the raw material preparation chain. Properly selected heat exchangers combined with counter-current crisper coolers close the plant heat balance; see the article on shell-and-tube heat exchangers.

Frequently asked questions about crispers

Why cool the press cake?

After pressing, cake is hot and moist. Cooling and drying prepare it for transport or extraction and keep the structure and quality of the product.

What is counter-current flow in a cooler?

Air moves against the product, which provides efficient heat and moisture exchange.
